How to spell PALESTINE in Hebrew?

Here's a fun fact you should know: there are three ways to spell Palestine in Hebrew: פלשתינא פלשתינה פלסטין You might think it doesn’t matter, because at the end of the day it’s the same word — but it actually matters a lot. פלשתינא — spelled with a ת and an א — is the ancient spelling. This is how some ancient Jewish scholars referred to the land after the Romans took over Israel and renamed it. פלשתינה — spelled with a ת and a ה — is the more modern spelling. This was the common spelling throughout most of the Diaspora, especially in the 1940's with the beginning of the Zionist movement. This is the spelling used by Zionist Jews who called to free Palestine from the British Mandate so that Israel could be built. This spelling appears on stamps, coins, and books. It is based on the English word Palestine as spelled by the British. פלסטין — the last spelling — is very modern and is mostly used to refer to Palestinian Muslims living in the area today. This spelling emerged alongside the invention of the so-called “Palestinian nation” and “Palestinian state,” which never existed and never will. This is the spelling used by people who still call Israel “Palestine” and refer to Judea and Samaria as the “West Bank.” Personally, I don’t care that פלסטין has become the mainstream spelling. I spell it the way Zionists spelled it in the 1940s — פלשתינה — and sometimes I use the more ancient spelling פלשתינא, depending on the context. I also only refer to Eretz Israel as Palestine when discussing history and when that name is relevant. Most of the time, for me, the proper Hebrew way of spelling Palestine is: ארץ ישראל. Another reason I say פלשתינים instead of פלסטינים is that this spelling places them closer to the biblical פלישתים (Philistines). I know there is most likely no genetic connection; however, I believe that modern Palestinians should be treated the same way ancient Jews treated the Philistines.
